Keystone Resort History
Keystone Resort opened on November 21, 1970, founded by Max Dercum. Today, it is owned and operated by Vail Resorts, alongside other premier destinations such as Vail, Beaver Creek, and Breckenridge.
The resort operates on U.S. Forest Service land under a special-use permit and has grown through carefully managed development, environmental planning, and community collaboration.
