History of Copper Mountain Resort
Copper Mountain Resort officially opened in November 1972. The resort was owned and operated by Intrawest until December 2009, when operations were acquired by POWDR.
In 1976, Copper Mountain hosted the Alpine Ski World Cup, serving as a late-season replacement for Heavenly Valley in California due to low snow conditions. German ski legend Rosi Mittermaier won both women’s races (slalom and giant slalom), securing the overall and slalom titles that season. The resort honored her achievement by naming Rosi’s Run in her honor.
