There are a number of creeks, rivers, lakes and reservoirs naturally positioned in various nooks and crannies throughout the beautiful landscape of the Colorado High Country. But when it comes to fishing you need to cast out knowing you have the best opportunity to reel in the catch of the summer. These three areas in Summit County will give you that glory:

Blue River

Blue River

A Gold Medal Stream conveniently located from the Dam at Dillon Reservoir to Kremmling. The Blue isn’t a massive river by any stretch of the imagination, but with the Gorge Range to the west and the Williams Fork Mountains spanning east the Blue River runs peacefully through wild pines and firs, which makes it nice and relaxing to fish. You are sure to encounter quite a few small Brookies nibbling on the line but the preferred catch will take a little more work. Large Rainbows swim this river gallantly and take pride in teasing the average fisherman. Can you outsmart these gentle giants?

Gore Creek

Gore CreekRunning in amongst the wilderness lays Vail’s beautiful hidden gem. Beyond hustle and bustle of the great skiing in Colorado’s notorious mountain resort, the Gold Medal waters of Gore Creek provide a getaway for those looking to unwind and be one with the countryside. The best of the fishing occurs where Red Sandstone Creek enters the Gore and extends all the way to Eagle River. Experience may come into play here as this a true mountain creek – rocky and narrow. Keep and eye out and be patient, large Trout are known to lurk these majestic waters.

Ten Mile Creek

Stretching along the highway within the clutches of Colorado’s pines is a long, healthy flow of water known as Ten Mile Creek. There is plenty of quiet fishing here with an abundance of wild swimmers – from larger Brown Trout and Rainbows to the smaller Brookies and Snake River Cutts. Ten Mile Creek is the perfect escape to zone in and reel in your big catch, and it’s conveniently located along Copper Mountain into Frisco. You cannot beat 8-miles of great fishing!
