Summer is one of the best times to visit Frisco for a scenic hike in the beautiful Colorado High Country. Colorado’s most enchanting flowers are in bloom, wildlife viewing is at its peak, and more than usual predictable weather patterns make for an easily planned adventure. Each of these trails lead to a breathtaking view of some of Summit County’s greatest vistas. Here are our top five picks for scenic trails near Frisco:

Peaks Trail

Rainbow Lake

USNFS Difficulty Rating: MODERATE to MORE DIFFICULT
Mileage: 7.8 miles one-way
Approximate elevation start: 9,110 feet (Frisco)
Approximate elevation end: 10,075 feet (Breckenridge)
Details: Hike through Rainbow Lake and to the Town of Breckenridge or double back and end in Frisco.

Lily Pad Lake (from Meadow Creek Trailhead)

USNFS Difficulty Rating: MODERATE to MORE DIFFICULT
Mileage: 1.3 miles
Approximate elevation start: 9,157 feet
Approximate elevation end: 9,917 feet
Details: Hike through Wildernest neighborhood via Lily Lake trial or take the out and back trail.

 

North Ten Mile

North Ten Mile

USNFS Difficulty Rating: MODERATE to MORE DIFFICULT
Mileage: 2 miles to Wilderness Boundary – 3.4 miles to Gore Trail intersection
Approximate elevation start: 9,160 feet
Approximate elevation end: 10,826 feet
Details: Hike through North Ten Mile Canyon and take in views of Chief Mountain and Wichita Mountain.

Mount Royal & Masontown

Mount Royal

USNFS Difficulty Rating: MOST DIFFICULT
Mileage: 2 miles one-way (1 to Masontown, 1 to top of Mount Royal)
Approximate elevation start: 9,097 feet
Approximate elevation end: 10,347 feet
Details: Hike through Masontown and trek to the top of Mount Royal to experience spectacular views of Lake Dillon and the Town of Frisco.

Miners Creek Road

Meadow Creek

USNFS Difficulty Rating: MODERATE to MORE DIFFICULT
Mileage: 2.5 miles one-way
Approximate elevation start: 9,132 feet
Approximate elevation end: 9,965 feet
Details: Hike through and near Rainbow Lake with scenic views surrounding the landscape while gaining access to Wheeler National Recreation Trail, Peaks and Gold Hill.
