It’s somehow already the middle of November and Thanksgiving is less than a week away! If you aren’t able to come up and see us over the holiday, we’re hoping you at least have wonderful plans to enjoy a fantastic meal with family and friends. And, if you haven’t already, it’s time to be thinking about what to include on your Thanksgiving menu.

If you are looking to try a great new recipe this year, we’re here to help. In the kitchen at the Inn we are always developing new recipes to make our guests feel right at home. And, while we have our go-to Thanksgiving dishes such as sweet potato casserole, stuffing, cranberry sauce and turkey, we also like to try a few new things each year. So, join us in experimenting with this delectable treat: Crispy Brussels Sprouts with Goat Cheese and Honey. .

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Brussels sprouts
  • ½ cup canola oil (or more depending on the size of your pot).
  • 1 oz goat cheese
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Slice Brussels sprouts from the stalk and then slice them in half from top to bottom. You’ll want to use larger sprouts for this recipe, preferably ones that have some stalk left on them to hold all the leaves together while frying
  2. Add canola oil to a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, about 1” deep.
  3. After 1-3 minutes, test the oil to see if it is hot by slowing dipping a Brussels sprout into the oil. Once it sizzles, you’ll know it’s ready. At this point, lower the heat to medium and get your splatter screen ready.
  4. Once the oil is hot, slowly add about half of the sprouts. Use tongs to make sure they distribute evenly and flip them once they’re golden on one side.
  5. When the Brussels are completely golden (about 4 minutes), use the tongs to remove them to a paper towel lined plate.
  6. Repeat with the second batch.
  7. Once the second batch is complete, salt the sprouts evenly and plate them.
  8. Before serving, add a drizzle of honey and a crumble of goat cheese.
  9. Serve immediately for an appetizer or a side dish.

We hope that everyone has a great holiday full of great food and gratitude. If you enjoyed this recipe, be sure to stop by the dining room at the Inn for other great meals prepared by the Inn’s staff. Happy Thanksgiving!
