2019 International Snow Sculpture Championships

Head to Breckenridge January 21-30, 2019 for the 29th International Snow Sculpture Championships! This FREE event is open to the general public and has been a staple for residents and visitors alike every year. Presented by Breckenridge Brewery and your Hometown Toyota Stores, the event features 16 teams from around the world hand-carving 25-ton blocks of snow into gigantic, unique works of art. They do this from January 21-25 using only hand tools and their creativity over the five days, creating an incredible outdoor gallery for the viewing days from January 25-30.

Schedule for Sculpting Days – January 21-25, 2019

The sculpting will begin with a shotgun start at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 21 and it will end on Friday, January 25 at 9:00 a.m. Many say that Thursday, January 24 is one of the best times to visit as you can watch the artists prepare to stay up all night attending to detail work in a celebratory atmosphere as they finish their masterpieces. This is a great opportunity to stay the entire weekend to fully enjoy watching the sculptures evolve and see who wins!

Schedule for Viewing Days – January 25-30, 2019

Friday, January 25 – Awards Ceremony & Acrobatic Cirque Show

The ceremony will take place at the Riverwalk Center at 6:00 pm. Don’t forget to support your favorite sculpture with the People’s Choice Vote and stay to find out which team will walk away as the winner!

Saturday, January 26 – Fireworks

The fireworks can be viewed from downtown Breckenridge and create a spectacle over the finished sculptures!

Each night there will be an ISSC Lightshow, and sculptures will be illuminated from dusk to dawn throughout the viewing week. Be sure to plan your trip to see the sculptures before they are taken down at 7 p.m. on January 30!
