While it may be known for its skiing, snowboarding and other winter sports, Summit County offers excitement beyond traditional winter activities, as is evidenced by the Melee in the Mountains, presented by the 10th Mountain Roller Dolls, to be held April 28th and 29th at the Dobson Ice Arena in Vail, CO. This 3rd annual Melee is an action-packed roller derby tournament with thrills (and spills) for the whole family and has quickly become a popular local tradition for competitors and fans alike. There will be four teams competing for bragging rights, but when it’s all over, there can only be one champion.

What Can You Expect at Melee in the Mountains?
There is more than just the actual competition to enjoy. There will be a pre-party event, including an open skate with meet-and-greet on Friday. There will also a silent auction, closing on Saturday evening.

Saturday morning, the real action begins with the competition’s first bout between the Mountaineers and Las Cruces at 10:30am. The closing championship bout will wind up the arena action, with an after-party event at Altitude in the Evergreen Lodge at Vail.

The 10th Mountain Roller Dolls is a WFTDA-sanctioned roller derby organization, formed in 2010 in Eagle, CO. Two teams, Mountaineers and Troopers, have a mission to spread sports-woman-ship, athleticism, wisdom, and resilience through their competitive spirit and performance. All are welcome to join in the Melee, and the group encourages all interested parties to join them as skaters, officials, and coaches.
