Winter FamilyWinter is on the way in the Colorado High Country and, believe it or not, there are a lot of options outside of skiing and snowboarding for guests who visit the Frisco, Colorado area in the snowy season. Whether you’re here to ski or snowboard or just enjoy a snowy winter’s day, the area comes to life when the temperatures drop and the snow covers the ground. Guests staying in Frisco, Colorado hotels shouldn’t hesitate to look beyond the traditional wintertime activities and take advantage of the top activities in the area. Here are a few of our suggestions…

Brewery and Casino Tours

Adventure tours are available to take guests to local breweries and casinos. These can be done as special group packages, especially for the upcoming NFL season or for a bachelor party. The tours will travel to historic towns and gaming districts and also visit the Summit County breweries for private tastings. Learn more about available tours here.

Train Rides

Train rides are a great way to tour the area and see many of the breathtaking sites during Frisco’s winter, without having to endure the cold. Tours are available on a historic steam locomotive that will transport passengers down the canyons and head past several of the old silver and gold mines in the area. Skiing and Tubing

In the winter, the Frisco Adventure Park offers guests the opportunity to tackle their tubing hill or enjoy some beginner skiing. This is a great activity for families and children. You can even take a lesson from local instructors! Ski rental is not available at the Park so make sure and pick some up before heading over there. Helmets are required on the ski hills at the Frisco Adventure Park, and there are discounted passes available for families.

Winter Zip Lining

Visitors looking for a taste of adventure off the ski slope can soar over the snow-covered mountains and forests of Colorado’s high country on a zip line. There are several professionally-guided zip line tours in the region, including one that heads below Freemont Pass and offers more than 2,000 acres of property as well as 50 gold mines to check out. There are minimum age requirements for the zip line tours, so those traveling with children under the age of seven may not be able to participate.

Dog Sledding

Guided dog sled tours are also available in the area. The dogs are trained and ready to take groups of visitors on beautiful tours through Colorado’s backcountry. The adventure takes travelers across scenic alpine trails and snowy meadows. Reservations are required, and guests can book a lunch with their trip. Holidays book up quickly so contact tour companies sooner than later if you plan to visit during the holidays.

There’s nothing like a visit to the Frisco Inn in the wintertime and we hope to see you. Make a reservation for a few great outdoor activities and spend your afternoons cozied up by the fire in our warm and inviting lobby. And, don’t forget, if you’re not up for trekking out in the snow, we have everything you need onsite – delicious food, a spa and Jacuzzi and plenty of great company.
