Biking the great trails of FriscoOur fabulous local biking trails are no longer hidden under piles of winter white, which means it’s officially mountain biking season in the High Country! There are plenty of great trails right here in town and even more in the surrounding mountains, which makes Frisco a great place to home base for fun and exciting biking adventure.

After you’ve booked your room at the Inn, get started planning your trip by exploring some local train information here. Here are some tips to help you prepare.

1. Gear up

First things first; your personal safety is the most important component of an enjoyable mountain biking trip and the most basic rule of safety is to wear a helmet on the trails – on the trails and off. Wear a helmet, protective footwear and carry a windbreaker or jacket in case of unexpected rain or inclement weather.

2. Get the right bike

Whether you prefer to hit the rough and tough mountain trails or the smooth pavement, make sure you’ve made arrangements for the right bike. You can bring your own, of course, or travel light and rent or borrow one in town. You can rent a bike locally at Pioneer Sports or guests at the Inn can borrow one for free during their stay.

3. Check the weather

Don’t forget Colorado weather can change in a flash so be prepared. Check the forecast before you head out and if there’s lightening on the horizon, postpone your trip. In the event that you do encounter an electrical storm while you’re out on the trail, learn more about how to protect yourself here.

4. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate

The dry Colorado air in combination with the high altitude can be a recipe for dehydration and/or altitude sickness. Water is the best weapon against both so be prepared with plenty of it. Consider using a hydration pack or just bring along an extra water bottle or two. Plan ahead by pre hydrating before you start your ride with a half to one liter of water and then drink small amounts consistently for the duration of your adventure. Remember: the most important rule of mountain biking is to have fun! If you have any questions about bike rentals, or nearby trails stop by the front desk and we can point you in the right direction!
