Colorado offers a special winter travel experience for visitors. Say farewell to the old year and start the New Year out right with an unforgettable experience in beautiful snow-covered mountains and enjoy world-class resort activities. Visit the quaint and historic town of Frisco for a unique blend of exceptional lodging and service, popular dining options, shopping, and outdoor activities.

Winter Activities for the New Year in the Colorado High Country

Each of the unique ski resorts in Summit County has abundant holiday displays, competitive events, activities, and music for visitors. All this is above and beyond their traditional offerings to ski and snowboard in the most beautiful mountains the country has to offer. Here are a few of the most popular events occurring in January:

Beaver Creek Culinary Weekend – January 19-22

Highlighted by celebrity guest chefs, including Gabriel Kreuther, Suzanne Tracht, Maycoll Calderon, Tobie Puttock, Carla Hall, and Hugh Acheson, this extraordinary event is held at the base of a World Cup mountain. The perfect blend of skiing and culinary fun, this event immerses you into Colorado cuisine and exceptional ski opportunities. Don’t miss the Grand Tasting on Saturday – raise a toast to a weekend you’ll never forget!

Winter Bluegrass Weekend in Keystone – January 20-21

Benefitting the Decrum Center for the Arts and Humanities, this bluegrass extravaganza occurs the same weekend as the Beaver Creek Culinary Weekend; so take your pick of gatherings and bring all your friends! In its 6th year, this festival has really grown to become a key event on the calendar. Artists you’ll be foot stompin’ to include: Pine Beatles and Caribou Mountain Collective, Denver-based Meadow Mountain, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades and Lil’ Smokies, plus Golden’s Thunder and Rain.

Frisco Activities

The town of Frisco has plenty to offer in its own right. Frisco Adventure Park features a multi-lane tubing hill and a ski ride and hill for beginners. Also within the park is the Frisco Nordic Center with snowshoe and ski trails, and lessons in classic or skate skiing. Warm up in the park’s Frisco Day Lodge.

For a real adventure, enjoy a scenic ride through the Colorado High Country with the Two Below Zero sleigh rides or dinner sleigh ride. Rated the #1 sleigh ride in America, visitors can enjoy an invigorating sleigh ride, dinner, and show.

Planning ahead? Join in Frisco’s 47th annual Gold Rush Days, February 11-12. This is the longest-running Nordic event in Colorado, with classic and skate skiing events for participants of all ages and abilities. Gold Rush Days celebrates Frisco’s proud and historic mining heritage.

Frisco Historic Park & Museum are located right in downtown Frisco, providing visitors with a glimpse into Frisco’s heritage and early settlements. Hikes through the park and guided tours bring the early days of Frisco to life for visitors.
