freerider-skiing-ski-sports-47356Doesn’t an escape to the snow-covered hills of Summit County to ring in the New Year sound just about perfect? Spending time with family and friends and a pair of skis almost certainly beats the congestion and hype of Times Square and New York City, or any other crowded event you might consider instead.

We encourage you to check it out with a New Year’s Eve vacation full of memories. Combine music, fine dining, champagne toasts, torchlight parades on the slopes, and you have a magical experience and a can’t-miss celebration that fills your memories well into the New Year.

New Year’s Eve Activities for the Entire Family

Say farewell to the old year as friends and family participate in winter sports and activities unique to Summit County resorts. Events and celebrations that cater to every age and taste abound in the High Country. Here are a few we love to recommend:

Arapahoe Basin Moonlight Dinner Series

– New Year’s Eve in the Mountains

A-Basin Executive Chef Christopher Rybak demonstrates the fruits of his years of culinary experience and passion at the Black Mountain Lodge at Arapahoe. Diners delight in the innovative dishes Chef Rybak prepares, drawing on world-wide inspiration to translate his skill and creativity into traditional dishes and flavors. The classic menu will include seafood appetizers and entrees of beef and lobster.

Moonlight dinners are generally presented on Saturdays during a full moon cycle, adding extra ambience to a special dining experience in an intimate mountain setting, combined with the natural beauty of the Colorado High Country.

Ring in the New Year along with the New York crowds with live music, champagne, balloon drop, and party favors.

Beaver Creek Family-Friendly New Year’s Eve Celebration

Bring the whole family to Beaver Creek for one of the Travel Channel’s top 10 family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebrations. Excitement begins with a public glowstick ski down, followed by a torchlight parade and a beautiful fireworks display over the village.

Then the party really gets started at the New Year’s Eve Family Bash with family-oriented activities that include games, dancing, a balloon drop, raffle prizes, and a DJ.

This event is so popular it sells out, so get your reservations in early.

Copper Mountain New Year’s Eve Celebration – Moonlight in the Mountains

A full evening of festivities is in store for guests at the Copper Mountain resort. Events include the Kid’s Glowstick Pageant followed by a Torchlight Parade that beautifully lights up the slopes as participants make their way down the mountain. Take in the Rail Jam under the lights, all topped off with a fantastic mountain-side fireworks display.

Kid’s Night Out offers more fun indoors for the kids, while adults head for the many drink specials and live music at their favorite Copper Mountain establishment to ring in the New Year.

Copper also offers an intimate fine dining experience on the mountain with the popular Moonlight Dine & Ski. Rise to Solitude Station on the chair lift to enjoy an exclusive meal, descending after dinner either on the chair lift, or by skiing downhill by moonlight to celebrate with cocktails and fireworks.

Lake Dillon Theatre Company 2nd Annual New York New Year’s Eve

Lake Dillon Theatre Company offers up spectacular entertainment and a countdown to midnight in New York. This is a formal and limited-participant party, so book your reservations early. Participants will enjoy an intimate evening that includes a cabaret performance featuring Priscilla & Chris Flowers, a catered dinner, open bar, dancing, and the New Year’s Eve countdown.

New Year’s Eve at the Lake Dillon Theater Company will also include many other special surprises, providing those in attendance with a truly memorable experience.
