This month Frisco is kicking off their educational and entertaining Lunchtime Lecture Series. Every Wednesday beginning June 15th, special guests will present on a different topic unique to Frisco’s historical past. Each lecture will be held at the Historic Park Log Chapel and will start at noon. Lunch is encouraged but arriving early is a must as seating is very limited and sure to fill up quickly. 

Frisco’s Historic Park Lunchtime Lecture Series is your chance to experience the incredible history of the Colorado High Country firsthand with 12 educational presentations held weekly throughout the summer. Check out the details for each of the lectures taking place this month and choose the best one for the entire family to enjoy: 

Haulin’ Ass! – Running With Burros 

When: June 15th 

Presenter: Brad Wann 

Details: Pack Burro Racing is the only sport indigenous to Colorado. Hear the history of one of the highest altitude races in the world, as well as the stories of racing legends. Pack Burro Racing has captured the attention of filmmakers, reality shows, and athletes from ages 9 years old to the mid-seventies. Discover why people are drawn to do this crazy sport, and get to meet a burro. 

Stories of the Nuche, Tales From the Ute People

When: June 22nd 

Presenter: Nina Gabianelli & Skyler Lomahaftewah 

Details: Storytelling has been used in every culture as a means of entertainment, education, and cultural preservation. Nina Gabianelli, from the Aspen Historical Society, and Skyler Lomahaftewah, a Northern Ute tribal member, together will present both the history of the native people of Colorado and the modern day Ute experience. 

Railroads of Summit County 

When: June 29th 

Presenter: Bob Schoppe 

Details: Come ride the rails via photographs and tales, and discover the fascinating history of Summit County’s two former narrow gauge railroads, the Colorado & Southern and the Denver & Rio Grande.
