The New Year is upon us and it’s not too early to start planning your first weekend getaway for 2015. There are so many events and fun activities that take place in the winter up in high country, and we have selected a few perfect ideas for you to check out. Make the Inn your place to stay while you visit the hills this season and you’ll be in close proximity to tons of great seasonal activities. A few of our favorites are outlined below:

Vail Big Beers Festival
A weekend in beautiful Vail with World Class beers may seem like a dream, but you can make it a reality on January 8 through January 10, 2015. This weekend is the perfect opportunity for beer lovers to sample hundreds of various beers, while also enjoying the sure-to-be fresh pow that just keeps on falling this time of year. You can expect some of the tastiest crafts from brewers such as Papago Brewing Co. and Brouwerij Van Steenberge, and other creations from brewers around the globe. Vail Cascade Resort and Spa will also be cooking up some delectable cuisine to pair well with your beer. Ticket prices for this event vary depending on the events you partake in, and pricing can be found here. A full schedule of events can also be found here.

Ullr Fest
On January 11, through the 17th, Breckenridge invites folks of all ages to witness the ski town turn into a Viking village for Ullr Fest. As an added bonus, it’s not uncommon for skiers and snowboarders to be wearing Viking hats as they cruise down the mountain during this fun festival. Be prepared to observe frying pan throwing competitions and a parade incorporating floats with ski jumps and more. There will also be an ice skating party and comedy show during the week. WinterBike
It’s no secret that Summit County is a perfect place to cycle, in large part due to the magnificent scenery and weather during the spring and summer seasons. However, have you ever thought about riding your bike in the winter in the mountains? If you’re a person who’ll try anything once, this is something you must participate in! Dash through the snow on January 24 through January 25, and join Copper and the Cloud City Wheelers for WinterBike, part of the Leadville winter mountain bike series. Cyclers and non-cyclers from all over will ride into the night trying to avoid the inevitable slipping and sliding that will take place as they ride into Copper Village to the finish line. Budweiser International Snow Sculpture Championships
If you’ve never had the opportunity to spend a weekend in a ski town and check out snow sculptures, this is the event for you. Snow artists from around the world will compete January 27 through January 31 in Breckenridge at the International Snow Sculpture Championships. Depending on your availability in January, you may have the opportunity to watch the snow blocks arrive between January 19 and January 23, the snow artists chip away and create a masterpiece, or just view their finished products, which will remain on display through February 8. This is a perfect opportunity to bring the whole family, grab a cup of hot chocolate and walk the streets of Breckenridge to see the most amazing snow sculptures around.

Start planning your vacation now! All of the above events are a perfect excuse to get out of town and take in a little piece of Summit County culture. As you know, the Inn is the perfect place to make your home base while you explore the area. We are right smack in the middle and an easy drive to all surrounding towns.
