Although there is plenty to do throughout the winter months, the holidays and festivals bring with them special attractions and activities for the entire family, and the ULLR Fest is a perfect example.

What is the ULLR Fest?

ULLR is the winter god of Norse mythology, who beckons all ages to join his annual party in the snow-covered mountains of Summit County. This annual event is now in its 54th year, and takes place January 11-14th for 2017. ULLR is the stepson of the well-known “God of Thunder” – Thor, although ULLR is best known for his love of snow, skiing, and skating.

During the ULLR Fest, visitors can participate in Ullympic competitions such as throwing frying pans for fun and prizes. Skiers and snowboarders may even don traditional horned Viking helmets to add to the fest ambiance and join in the party atmosphere.

The ULLR Fest parade down Main Street is an event not to be missed, with wild floats including a hot tub gliding through town. ULLR Fest includes events throughout Breckenridge, including the ULLR Ball, ULLR bonfire, crowning of the ULLR kind and queen, and snow sculpting competitions. Many visitors come to Breckenridge specifically to attend the festival, which has continued to grow as a popular event for all ages.
