Cycling Takes Over at Breckenridge in JuneBreckenridge Bike Week

Beautiful Breckenridge is taken over by anything pedal-powered during Breck Bike Week, from June 21-25 in 2017. Bikers can select from many activities that challenge their riding skills, educate bike owners on maintenance, and an incredible selection of fun events.

Breck Bike Week is not limited to 2-wheeled vehicles – events are offered that even focus on unicycle riders. Riders of every skill level can participate in rides on the multitude of beautiful trails throughout the Breckenridge area, or take to road-based rides.

Schedule of Events for Breck Bike Week

Wednesday, June 21

Bike to Work Day – Local commuters are challenged to take two wheels instead of their gas-powered four-wheeled vehicles. This event includes complimentary coffee and a Bike to Work Day raffle.

Summit Mountain Challenge – a great run to kick off bike week

Bike-in Movie – late-night event hosted at the District

Thursday, June 22

Mayor’s Favorite Lunch Loop – yes, even the Mayor of Breckenridge, Eric Mamula, gets into the spirit of bike week. Enjoy this approximately 2-hour ride through the Mayor’s favorite mountain terrain bike (MTB) loop.

Yeti Beti Women’s MTB Skills Clinic – this is a free unique 2-hour clinic designed by and for women, focusing on developing basic MTB skills. Both beginners and less-experienced riders will benefit from the skills and confidence provided through attending the clinic.

Yeti Beti Women’s Skills Clinic – for intermediate skill levels striving to improve their flow and overcome more advanced ride obstacles. Participants should already be comfortable with 15-mile rides. Benefits of this clinic include improved handling of switchbacks, posture for extended rides, and efficiency of pedal strokes.

Breck Cruisers – visitors and locals join up to ride through town.

Friday, June 23

Firecracker 50 Pre-Ride with Breck Bike Guides – one of the best race loops is the scene for cyclists unable to participate in the classic July 4th race, or those training for it. All skill levels are welcome to navigate this guided ride.

Bike and Brews Guided Day Tour – this event combines rides through the scenic trails of Breckenridge with the finest in local craft beers. Stops at multiple breweries and the world’s highest distillery reward riders with some of the finest brews Colorado has to offer. This ride is limited to a smaller group of participants.

Saturday, June 24

Summit Fat Tire Poker Ride – ride through trails collecting cards for your poker hand, for a great time, while supporting the work of the Summit Fat Tire in their trail work that makes Summit County such a great place to ride. This a fee-based event, based on the age of the participants.

Lake Loop Fondo – Lake Dillon is the scenic site for this 40-mile ride from Breckenridge, around the lake, down Swan Mountain, and back to Breckenridge. Lake Management Inc can contribute to a beautiful view, too. Vistas provide riders with spectacular scenery all along the way.

Yeti Beti Women’s MTB Clinics – additional free clinics focused on beginners or intermediate riders are offered.

Funkadelic Pond Crossing Challenge – this free event is open to the first 25 registrants, with the goal to cross a 10” floating plank across the Dredge pond in Breckenridge. Presented with a disco theme, costumes are encouraged, and prizes are presented for first to cross, fastest to cross (separate prizes for female and male), best crash, best costume, and more.

Adult Big Wheel Race – don your most creative costume and jump on a big wheel to race around the Dredge pond. Competitors are rewarded with prizes for best costume and first, second, and third place.

Sunday, June 25

Breck Mountain Enduro – Maverick Sports Promotions presents this cross-country race in a mostly downhill competition in one of the most popular mountain bike racing formats today.

Each day also presents:

Vendor Demo and Expo – Friday through Sunday. Vendors from best-known names including Trek, Shimano, and more present demo bikes for every interest. Find out what’s new or coming soon, including bike models, accessories, and other cycling equipment.

Happy Hour Bike Maintenance Clinic, presented by professional bike mechanics to educate bikers in proper care and maintenance, as well as on-trail repairs. Learn how to repair flat tires, repair chains, and the best tools to carry.
