Friday marks the first day of spring and it won’t be long before the snow begins to melt and it’s time once again for our favorite spring and summer activities here in Summit County. Even if you’re sad to see the winter sports go by the wayside for the next few months, Frisco is a unique and wonderful little town tucked away in the Rockies and right on Lake Dillon so there are still plenty of great activities to look forward to as warmer weather approaches. Here are five of our favorites:

1. Hiking
Colorado is home to some of the best mountain hiking trails in the United States, and some of those trails are right here in Summit County. If you’re looking for an easy trail, we suggest Rainbow Lake. It’s a local favorite you can enjoy for a few hours or, for the more ambitious, keep on hiking all the way to Breckenridge. For directions, click here. Or, if you’re looking for something requiring a little more skill and prowess, give Lily Pad Lake trail a try. This trail requires a moderate to difficult skill level and can be found off I-70 at exit 203, (the CO-9 exit for Frisco/Breckenridge). Directions to this trail can be found here.

If you need guidance in planning your hiking adventure here in Frisco, we have the perfect tips for you here.

2. Activities On The Lake
Right in Frisco’s own backyard, Lake Dillon stretches across 3,300 acres and has 25 miles of shoreline surrounded by magnificent mountains. As you can imagine, there are a lot of activities that take place on this large body of water that range from canoeing, sailing, fishing, kayaking or even just sitting and relaxing on the sandy shore. No matter what activity you choose, you’ll be sure to enjoy some relaxing (or invigorating) time on the lake.

3. Bike Riding
With the snow headed out and the thought of drier trails, it’s time to dust off your bike seat and helmet and get ready to hit the trails that have been buried with snow this winter. Whether you’re an expert mountain biker ready to hit the trails or just looking to enjoy the paved bike paths here in town, there are plenty of great options for any skill level. If you’re looking to start with an easy ride on a paved path, be sure to check out the bike path around Lake Dillon. You can start your adventure at the Frisco Marina. For more information, click here. And, we know where all the best trails and paths are located so don’t hesitate to stop by the front desk during your stay and ask for some suggestions.

4. Ziplining
Ziplining is a great activity in Frisco, no matter the season. Breeze through nature by zip-lining on a two or four hour course with Top of the Rockies Zip Line. You can enjoy panoramic views of the mountains and get the ‘high’ of a rollercoaster ride on this outdoor adventure. Each line is equipped with a braking system that provides a smooth and safe stop to a landing deck and is a great time for the whole family. Book your adventure today!

5. Horseback Riding
Now more than ever is the perfect time to saddle up and trot through the hidden trails of the High Country on horseback. We suggest booking an excursion with Western Sky Activities. Located in Breckenridge, they are just a quick drive from Frisco. Whether you’re looking to ride for a short period of time or a few hours, a horseback ride in the mountains will let you escape the hustle and bustle of the city and introduce you to Colorado’s wilderness. If you decide on an early morning or late afternoon ride, breakfast and dinner are provided during your adventure and served cowboy style. Don’t forget to wear comfortable and sturdy shoes, jeans and maybe even your cowboy hat!

We’re excited for warmer weather and hope you are, too! All of the above activities are great for a family vacation, especially with the Inn as your home base. Plan your spring and summer vacation with us today by calling 1-970-668-3224 or by clicking here!
